Overview:
As part of ResearchNB’s Ideas Pillar, this funding program’s goal is to support the continuation and future success of highly meritorious research programs that have not been successful in receiving federal support.
In the event that a researcher had secured a multi-year federal award, but was unsuccessful in their renewal, this program will support the year’s gap as they prepare for re-application to that federal opportunity.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be researchers at one of the eligible research institutions listed in our Award Administration Guidelines.
Have applied to any of the Tri-Council agencies for the following grants: NSERC Discovery, SSHRC Insight & Insight Development, and CIHR Project grant.
Received the following scores in the peer review of their original applications:
SSHRC Insights & Insight Development: third sextile or higher
NSERC Discovery: scored Strong or higher across all categories
CIHR Project: score of 4.0 or higher and ranking in the top 25%
Eligible Expenses:
Eligible expenses are listed in our Research Award Administration guide.
Award and Reporting:
Award Value: Up to $35k
Award Duration: Up to one year.
Anticipated notice of decision date: November 18, 2025
Status Reporting: A final status report due three months after the award end date.
This award is non-renewable.
