Overview:
As a part of ResearchNB’s Ideas Pillar, this program’s goal is to support initiatives that align with ResearchNB’s priority sectors and are a part of large-scale, transformative projects for the Province.
These funds should focus on innovation, capacity building, or addressing critical challenges within a specific sector. Recipients are expected to demonstrate significant impact and sustainability of the work beyond the ResearchNB grant period.
It is strongly recommended that an application is submitted to the Expression of Interest Program for an initial review of priority sectors alignment and ResearchNB’s funding capacity before filling out this fund application.
Leverage:
4:1 (4 parts external money: 1 part ResearchNB money) where in-kind and vendor discounts can be included as leverage (for up to 50% of the match).
Eligibility:
Applicants must be researchers at one of the eligible research institutions listed in our Award Administration Guidelines.
Eligible Expenses:
Funds can be spent on a wide range of costs associated with the project as described in the application. Please see our Award Administration Guidelines for an exhaustive list.
Award and Reporting:
Award Value: Up to $400k
Award Duration: Up to 4 years

Round 2: November 27th, 2025
Round 3: February 26th, 2026
Round 4: May 28th, 2026
Anticipated notice of decision date:
Round 1: December 19th, 2025

Status Reporting: The award is for a maximum of four years, with an interim status report due annually and a final status report due three months after the award end date.
This award is non-renewable.
