Only the top six (6) abstracts in each of the four categories: Biomedical, Clinical, Health System and Services, Population Health will be selected for an oral presentation during the 2025 Health Research Symposium. Oral presentations should be no more than 15 minutes in length, leaving 5 minutes for questions. Detailed presentation guidelines will be distributed to successful candidates in advance of the 2025 Health Research Symposium.
Candidates who would still like to present their work will be invited to deliver a poster presentation by submitting a Poster Presentation application form through the SurveyMonkey portal.

Separate application submissions are required for the Oral and Poster Competitions. The submission period for the Poster Competition will begin in early August, following the closing of the Oral Competition.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be a post-secondary student, post-doctoral fellow, research professional, health care professional, academic or clinical researcher.

Abstracts for the 2025 Health Research Symposium must not exceed 300 words in total. All abstracts shall:
- Describe a project that aligns with one or more of the four Canadian Institutes of Health Research pillars: biomedical research, clinical research, health systems and services research, or population health research.
- Include the following sections: Background, Objective/hypothesis, Methods, Results, and Discussion. In order to be considered for a presentation, the research project must have either preliminary or final results available to present.
- Include Equity Diversity and Inclusion considerations, with special emphasis on sex and gender considerations, if appropriate, in the Methods section.

- Abstract Submission Open Date: May 6th, 2025 at 1 PM
- Abstract Submission Deadline: July 11th, 2025 at 1 PM. No abstracts will be accepted after the submission deadline.
Evaluation Criteria
Abstracts for the 2025 Health Research Symposium shall be assessed by a Committee of Reviewers, composed of representatives from among the health research community in New Brunswick. All abstract submissions will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- Quality of writing
- Novelty of the research
- Impact of the research on the advancement of knowledge in the research area, the health system, or the population of New Brunswick
- Quality of the methodology
- Alignment with the theme of the Symposium: Powering Discovery Together
